Nice to see such a huge # of Nepali physicist.
KS
A very big scientific community!
This forum should interfere TU.TU is not doing any kind of research.
It gives us pleasure that Nepalese physicists are trying to help those who are in Nepal. I would like to know how would you plan in this matter.
Good job,it would be better if e-mail address of all Physicists were tagged with
Good job,it would be better if e-mail address of all Physicists were tagged with.
I am really happy on seeing such a large community of Nepali Physicists doing their research in US. However, I found the names some friends are still missing in the list. I hope it will be updated soon……..
Sanjiv, NMSU
Please let us know who is missing. The list was compiled last year.
email
There are more than 200 scientists doing postgraduate and Ph.D in USA.I wish I could get guideline through this website that whether marks or knowledge is more important. What should i do to mug up those nasty notes and get marks in MSc or to try to understand real physics. What are qualities a researchers has to be equipped with.Any of you can tell me if you please.
Dear All,
Great to see number of Physicists from Nepal.
This is Sunil Kumar Karna, from Nepal, doing PhD in Physics in Taiwan.
That is good. Lots of the physicist from Nepal abroad. Hope they are doing well there
I EXPRCT TO GET INFORMATION VIA THIS WEBSITE ABOUT FURTHER STUDY IN PHYSICS.
It would be better if email id of those physicist are also placed with their name.
Hi all,
It is nice to see such a big number nepali physicists in this Blog. However not all the physicists are included here and some of them are included insufficiently like myself.
My name is Ghanashyam Pokharel. I am certified Radiation Oncology physicist working current in USMD Cancer Care Center in Dallas TX. I did my master in Physics from Ohio university in 2005 and PhD in Radiation Oncology Physics from University of Texas Health Science Centert at San Antonio from Department of Radiological Sciences.
In fact Radiation Oncololy Physics brach in medical physics brach is very exciting, glamorous and lucrative area in which you can make well above $150,000 easily once you get certified from American Board of Radiology (ABR) and practice clinically.
I would recommend young and really motivated physicists to opt this career path. Currently we are just two certified physicists working in this field and I am aware that couple of others are in pool to get certified to practice clinically.
It is however very difficult to grasp the opportunities and be certified. Competition to get into the field is mouting because of the finacial and job market.
Those who are really really interested can mkae it through. I am planning to make a group of Nepali Medical Physicist to help to the new commer. In nepal they formed a group called Nepali assocoation of Physicists in Medicine which comprises of nine members at this point like American Assocation of Physicists in medicine here in USA.
Those who are really interested in this field can email me at pokharelgs@hotmail.com. I will help you as much as I can.
Thanks All
Best regards,
Ghanashyam (Sam) Pokharel, MS, PhD, DABR

A throng of Nepalese Physicist in USA(abroad). This list mostly consists of my teacher’ age ( group). Most of you are familair faces and name from St. Xavier’s college ,2001AD.
A complete list would be Physicist in Europe ,Asia and Australia. Also, Phd students (5yrs program) at various US universities will be imminent soon. So in next 3-4 yrs there will be more Phd passed out. It’s a good idea if we can help the physics research(education) in Nepal in more organised way. But I doubt , it will help only to brain drain.
we can’t expect maximal output unless government put some inceptives on experimental physics.
I am very happy to see this website.
Totally incomplete and unorganized group.. does not even include research fields for all of them..
Also this is only for US. there are numerous Physicists in Europe and Australia.
Also, the webmaster or whoever the admin is thinks that just PhD students or post Docs are physicists.. when in fact there are tons of graduate students working in companies like Microsoft and Vecna, in Computational Physics and BioPhysics, where are their names??
Bhuwan Jee
Thank you for a comment. We would like to hear the more info about physicist. Administrator won’t be able to find out “who is where” and ” what he/she is doing”. Please do send the info and lets make it better.
If you look at the list, you can find many physicist doing research in different field.
I feel very glad to know that there are so many Nepalese Physicist outside Nepal.Hope that this list will be tremendous in near future.
Pankaj sharma Ghimire

I wonder how many of our nepalese physicists are intending to return to nepal and spread their knowledge for a creation of a prosperous Nepal?
This might be something to discuss admin..
i think we should create a page in physics chautrai and have a forum of all our dear physicists from nepal and their views about future prospects.
Just wanted to add my name to the list!

This might be true but you can’t expect to teach 10+2 again after PhD. If someone just needs news( or can fabricate one) there are a lot of things to write about in Nepal. But in any case, if all Phd’s can give a minute of thinking towards towards the development of science in Nepal, it will blossom and time is right now. First thing is knowledge and then action.
Dear Administrator,
In S.N. 224, my name should be Sanjiv Kumar Jha instead of Ajaya Kumar Shah. There is no one here at Physics department of New Mexico State University having name Ajaya Kumar Shah.
I hope it will be corrected soon.
